A Microsoft licensing review doesn’t have to be stressful. The teams that sail through aren’t lucky — they’re simply the ones who keep their evidence current, so a review becomes a report they already have rather than a project they have to start.
Before the letter arrives
The best preparation is continuous, not reactive. Keep three things accurate and you’re most of the way there:
- Entitlements — what you’ve bought, with proof
- Deployments — what’s actually installed, everywhere (including the laptops that are rarely on the network)
- Usage — what’s genuinely in use
When the review lands
With those three reconciled, responding is mostly assembly rather than investigation:
- Produce an Effective Licence Position (ELP) from current data
- Explain any apparent gaps with usage evidence
- Resolve the small number of real exceptions deliberately, on your terms
The goal isn’t to “pass” a one-off test — it’s to know your position at all times. Sam360 keeps entitlements, deployments and usage reconciled continuously, so your ELP is always current. Get in touch if you’d like to walk in with the evidence already in hand.
